Bootcamps Outpour the Demand for Machine Learning Skills
Machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the world of work, creating new opportunities and challenges for professionals across various sectors. According to the World Economic Forum, the demand for ML and AI specialists will grow by 40% in the next five years, resulting in one million new jobs.
However, not everyone has the time, money, or background to follow a traditional degree in ML or AI. That’s why some online platforms, such as Springboard, are offering bootcamp programs that teach the essential skills and concepts of ML and AI in a shorter, inexpensive, and more supple way.
Springboard has partnered with three universities: University of California San Diego, University of Massachusetts, and University of Maryland to launch a new machine learning engineering and AI bootcamp that is fully online and can be completed in six to nine months. The bootcamp covers topics such as data analysis, algorithm development, natural language processing, computer vision, deep learning, and ethics. It also provides career services and mentorship opportunities to help students land jobs in the AI industry.

The bootcamp is designed for working professionals who have some experience in programming, preferably in Python, and want to upskill and advance their careers in the AI field. It is also suitable for those who are interested in learning the fundamentals of ML and AI and how they can apply them to various domains and problems.
The bootcamp is one of the many ways that online learning platforms are making ML and AI education more reachable and inexpensive for learners of different backgrounds and goals. By offering a balanced and inclusive curriculum, Springboard and its university partners hope to prepare students for the current and future needs of the AI industry and society.
