AWS Custom Model Import: Model Import for Hosting Generative AI Models
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the cloud computing arm of Amazon. It is making an important move to become the first-picked platform for companies looking to host and fine-tune their custom generative AI models. On April 23, 2024, AWS announced the introduction of a new feature called Custom Model Import as part of its enterprise-focused collection of generative AI services, Bedrock.
Custom Model Import allows organizations to import their in-house generative AI models as fully managed APIs. This means that companies can now bring their exclusive models to the AWS cloud. In AWS Cloud, they can be hosted and managed just like any other service. Once imported, these models can influence the same strong infrastructure as other generative AI models in Bedrock’s extensive library. This includes access to tools that can expand their knowledge, fine-tune them, and execute safeguards.
Vasi Philomin is the Vice President of generative AI at AWS. He stated that this new competence allows companies to bring their exclusive models to Bedrock and use them with all of the workflows that are already on Bedrock. This means that companies can now use the power of AWS’s substructure and tools to enhance their models, without having to worry about the complexities of managing and scaling their infrastructure.
This move by AWS is aimed at addressing the infrastructure challenges faced by enterprises in organizing generative AI models. By providing a platform where companies can easily host and manage their models, AWS is placing itself as a leader in the field of generative AI.
