Apple Intelligence iPhone 15 Compatibility: Apple’s New AI Feature May Exclude iPhone 15 Users
Apple Intelligence: A New Age of AI
Apple Intelligence is Apple’s upcoming AI system. It is set to transform the way we work together with our devices. This new feature is expected to be revealed at the World Wide Developer Conference. It is a result of a partnership with OpenAI. But there are concerns that the standard iPhone 15 may not support this new feature.
Apple Intelligence is expected to be an opt-in beta which is similar to developer-focused operating system updates that the company releases after WWDC. It is expected to ship on upcoming versions of the iPhone, iPad, and Macs. A limited number of older devices, including iPads and Macs running an M1 chip or higher and the iPhone 15 Pro, will also be able to run the system.
The new AI system will primarily focus on improving existing applications, such as providing summarizations of pages in Safari and notification summaries. Siri is also expected to receive a significant upgrade in 2024, with the ability to access more features like photo editing with voice.
In spite of the reported hardware restrictions, the system won’t run entirely on-device. In its place, it will mix local and cloud-based processes, depending on the complication of the task at hand. This hybrid approach is expected to provide a balance between performance and privacy, influencing the power of the cloud while keeping sensitive data on the device.
Nevertheless, the exclusion of the standard iPhone 15 from the list of compatible devices has raised eyebrows. Many users have expressed their displeasure, as they were looking forward to experiencing the new AI capabilities on their devices. Apple has yet to comment on these concerns.
