Position Description:
The ML Data Engineer will be a key member of the D^3 operations team responsible for the proper management of cloud infrastructure to ensure efficient and well-structured systems for use by researchers.
Responsibilities Include:
- Lead the development of a comprehensive data ecosystem that facilitates seamless data collection, storage, processing, and analysis, enabling a unified, data-driven approach.
- Lead the selection and deployment of tools and platforms, evaluating their effectiveness and making adjustments as necessary.
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) to support AI/ML architecture for intelligence research products, ensuring scalability, cost-efficiency, and security.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, this role involves integrating diverse data sources through APIs and ensuring efficient data flow between backend systems and user-facing platforms.
- Govern Large Language Model (LLM) infrastructure.
- Familiarity with both traditional Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and modern Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes for handling structured and unstructured data.
- This role is responsible for other duties as assigned.

- Minimum of five years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field required.
- Strong technical expertise in AI/ML algorithms, data modeling, and software development.
- Experience with cloud architecture and deploying scalable and secure solutions in a cloud environment.
- Experience with relational SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficient in programming languages used in data engineering, such as Python.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- AWS cloud infrastructure knowledge
Additional Information:
- This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA-based campus 3 days per week. Specific days and schedules will be determined between you and your manager.
