In a noteworthy move, Google Cloud and Bharti Airtel, India’s second-largest telecom operator, have announced a planned long-term partnership. This partnership targets to deliver cutting-edge cloud and generative AI (GenAI) solutions to businesses across India.

The partnership will support Airtel’s extensive customer base, which includes over 2,000 large enterprises and a million emerging businesses. The companies plan to offer AI solutions, including GenAI, which Airtel will train using its vast data sets. The assistances include geospatial analytics for trendspotting, predictive capabilities, market assessment, and voice analytics for conversational applications across multiple languages.

In addition, marketing technology solutions will allow tailored audience segmentation and high-precision contextual advertising. Airtel has also developed an end-to-end IoT solution tailored for the utility sector, combining connectivity, Google Cloud services, and application software.

To support its cloud-based solutions business, Airtel has established a managed services center in Pune, equipped with over 300 experts trained in Google Cloud services⁵. This partnership marks a major landmark towards Google’s commitment to fast-track cloud and AI adoption in India.

The partnership is expected to have a considerable influence on the Indian technology market. It targets the booming Indian public cloud services market, projected to reach $17.8 billion by 2027. The teamwork will bring together their unique strengths of connectivity and AI technology to develop industry-leading AI/ML solutions. These solutions will drive greater value to Airtel’s customers and will include advanced location intelligence for trendspotting, predictive capabilities, market assessment, site selection, risk management, and asset tracking.

Airtel has also developed an inclusive end-to-end IoT solution specifically designed for the utility sector. This offering combines connectivity, Google Cloud services, and application software under one umbrella, guaranteeing smooth and hassle-free deployment.

The partnership also marks a momentous step in Google’s commitment to expanding cloud and AI adoption in India. Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in driving innovation and digital transformation across the Indian business landscape.
