Google Gemini AI Launch: A New Eon of Multimodal AI

Google has recently revealed Gemini. It is a pioneering generative AI platform that is set to redefine the landscape of artificial intelligence. It is developed by Google’s AI research labs, DeepMind and Google Research. Gemini is a family of next-gen GenAI models that come in three versions: Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano.

Gemini models are “natively multimodal”. It means that they can work with and use more than just words. They were pertained and fine-tuned on a variety of data types including audio, images, videos, and text in different languages. This sets Gemini apart from models like Google’s own LaMDA, which was trained exclusively on text data.

The Gemini apps are an interface through which certain Gemini models can be retrieved, serving as a client for Google’s GenAI. Google also plans to launch an API, Yelp Fusion AI that allows third-party sites to include an AI-powered bot for business discovery.

Despite some controversy over a adjusted video demo, Google remains optimistic about Gemini’s competences, which include transcribing speech, captioning images and videos, and generating artwork.

Gemini’s combination with Google’s ecosystem offers unparalleled web intelligence. It supports cultured algorithms to provide real-time, in-depth insights, making searches more instinctive and informative. Gemini is discrete for its ability to recognize and perform repetitive tasks, allowing users to focus their attention on more complex and creative aspects of their work. The AI’s ability to learn and adapt to a user’s specific needs means that it can offer personalized assistance, further increasing productivity.

Gemini is also being introduced through different channels: Bard now runs on Gemini Pro, and Pixel 8 Pro users will experience new features with Gemini Nano. Developers and businesses can access Gemini Pro through Google Generative AI Studio or Vertex AI in Google Cloud starting December 13th.
