Mistral AI Launches New Model Chat Assistant
Mistral AI is a Paris-based AI startup. It has announced the launch of its new flagship large language model, Mistral Large, and its chat assistant, Le Chat, to contest the authority of GPT-4 and Claude 2 in the AI market.
Mistral Large is a generative AI model that can produce natural language texts for various tasks. The tasks may include such as summarization, translation, question answering, and content creation. The model supports five languages: English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian. It also claims a 32k-token context window. It means it can process lengthier and more intricate efforts than most of its contestants.
Le Chat is a bilingual chat assistant that uses Mistral Large as its support. It can engage in natural and articulate dialogues with users across diverse domains and situations. The service is currently in beta and available for anyone to try on Mistral AI’s website.
Mistral AI claims that its new products can challenge or even exceed the performance of GPT-4 and Claude 2. Both are the leading AI models developed by OpenAI and Meta. The company says it has achieved second place after GPT-4 on several benchmarks that measure the intellectual capabilities of AI models.
Mistral AI was founded in May 2023 by former Google DeepMind and Meta researchers. The company has raised over $2 billion in funding from investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, Microsoft, and SoftBank. The company also has a strong focus on open source and ethical AI. It released its first model, Mistral Small, under an open-source license.
Mistral AI’s new contributions are available through a paid API with usage-based pricing. The company hopes to attract customers from various industries and sectors that are looking for cutting-edge AI solutions.
