OpenAI ChatGPT GPT-4 Updates
OpenAI is the leading artificial intelligence research lab. It has announced exciting updates to its ChatGPT and GPT-4 models. The announcement was made during a live-streamed event was held at 10 a.m. PT on Monday. OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, took to the stage to reveal the updates, affirming that the team has been working hard on some new features that he believes people will love.
Altman’s statement seemed to be a response to a Reuters report published earlier in the week. It suggested that OpenAI was planning to announce an AI-powered search product. However, Altman claimed that the announcement was not about a new search engine. The Information and Bloomberg had previously reported that OpenAI was developing a search product, which would be partly powered by Bing. This product was said to work as a feature within ChatGPT, permitting the chatbot to search the web and cite sources.
Despite Altman’s insistence that the announcement was not about a search engine, it is possible that OpenAI could still announce a search feature. The live-streamed event was available to watch on the OpenAI website.
In addition to these updates, OpenAI has also introduced new voice and image competences in ChatGPT. These new features offer a more instinctive interface by allowing users to have a voice conversation or show ChatGPT what they’re talking about. Voice and image give users more ways to use ChatGPT in their life. For example, users can snap a picture of a landmark while traveling and have a live conversation about what’s interesting about it. After dinner, users can help their child with a math problem by taking a photo, circling the problem set, and having it share hints with both of them.
OpenAI is rolling out voice and images in ChatGPT to Plus and Enterprise users over the next two weeks. Voice is coming on iOS and Android (opt-in in your settings) and images will be available on all platforms.
OpenAI’s goal is to build AGI that is safe and beneficial. They believe in making their tools available progressively, which allows them to make developments and refine risk extenuations over time while also preparing everyone for more powerful systems in the future. This strategy becomes even more important with advanced models involving voice and vision.
