University of Wisconsin – Madison is looking for a Data Scientist II as a liaison with Flywheel software to participate in database implementation and management with a focus on ophthalmology. This involves the development and maintenance of AI models for workflow automation, AI gears development (Docker Containers), development of pipelines for scalable deployment, performance optimization, designing database queries for data retrieval, and developing semi-automated systems. This candidate would ensure security and compliance with technical standards, and technical documentation, and develop metrics reporting templates.

Responsibilities:
Contributes to a research agenda set by a lead researcher by preparing data sets, analyzing them using data science techniques, and presenting the results. May work independently or as part of a team.
- 20% Prepares data sets for analysis including cleaning/quality assurance, transformations, restructuring, and integration of multiple data sources.
- 20% Independently identifies and implements appropriate data science techniques to find data patterns and answer research questions chosen by the lead researcher including data visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining.
- 20% Organizes and automates project steps for data preparation and analysis.
- 30% Composes and assembles reproducible workflows and reports to articulate patterns to researchers and/or administrators.
- 10% Documents approaches to address research questions and contribute to the establishment of reproducible research methodologies and analysis workflows.

Qualifications:
- Two years of statistics or data science experience in a professional and/or student staff setting.
- Â Proficiency with Linux and a programming or statistical language such as Python.

- Â Experience with Flywheel software.
Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 80% – 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal, 24-month appointment.
This position can be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
Salary:
Minimum $60,184 ANNUAL (12 months)
